Description
Oewerzicht situated on a farm, 9 km from the quaint and romantic village of Greyton is a fully operational farm, harvesting apples and pears. The rest of the farm consists of rolling wheat lands, large flocks of sheep and if you are lucky, you’ll also see a herd of Reebok roaming freely on the farm.
Birdwatchers will also be delighted to see, amongst other, blue cranes, secretary birds, and large flocks of guinea fowl.
Guests are welcome to hike the trails on the farm or bring mountain bikes along to enjoy the magnificent scenery through the orchards. Bikes can also be rented in the village.
Children will have a wonderful time on the farm with its stretch-out lawns, and guests are welcome to bring their well-behaved dogs (max 1 per cottage, or 2 small dogs, but only on arrangement). The owners’ child-friendly Boxers, Katy and Anna, loves popping in and saying hello to guests visiting the farm.

Farmstyle cottages, or camp sites to suit everybody’s needs. We now also have a private campsite for groups. Like the proverbial pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, Oewerzicht offers an array of untold pleasures; just over the horizon from the welcoming country village of Greyton. Whether you are seeking an idyllic wedding venue, rustic leisure activities, or a glorious weekend getaway in paradise, Oewerzicht will give you the very best.
Choose between one of the farm style cottages, tented accommodation or bring your own camping gear to suit your budget. It includes the following.
Stone Cottages: There are 6 units in total with a communal kitchen in the middle. The Stone cottages come with a King size bed, all with en-suite bathrooms and fire places. Other features include a bar refrigerator, heater and fan, a comfortably sized veranda overlooking the river and a braai area.
There is a fully equipped communal kitchen with an indoor braai area, dining and lounge for stone cottage guests.
The Sone Cottages have a communal wood-fired hot tub which is perfect for a group of friends or just to relax in and unwind. The hot tub will be set-up on your arrival and additional wood can be purchased before hand or at the office. Oewerzicht provides bedding, towels, firewood (R20/bag),ice (R15/bag) as well as a braai grid.
Cottages: There are three (3) farm style cottages (situated about 50 meters from the river) Bergzicht, Welgelee and Citrus.
Bergzicht & Welgelee: semi-detached and both have one bedroom with a double bed and two single beds in the living area. Both these cottages have an indoor and outdoor braai area, as well as a lovely and spacious verandah. These cottages accommodate 4 people each. Welgelee has its own private wood fired hot tub.
Citrus: has one queen size bed in the main bedroom and an en-suite bathroom, and a double bed and 2 single beds in one bedroom. The double bed is a sunken bed in a room that is reached by climbing through a ‘hole in the wall’, which is great for kids and youngsters, but might not suite an elderly couple or those looking for privacy. There is a separate small flatlet at the back with a queen size bed and an en-suite bathroom. Altogether Citrus can accommodate 6-8 people. The cottage has a fireplace, an outside braai area and a large verandah for entertaining. Private wood fired hot tub on the verandah.
Uitsig Cottages: There are four Uitsig cottages overlooking the river and mountains, and are situated on the hill (about 300 meters from the river) and with panoramic views of the Riviersonderend mountain range. All the Uitsig cottages have a living room, two bedrooms (one with a queen size bed and en-suite, one with two single beds), and separate bathrooms, indoor as well as outdoor braai facilities. All 4 Uitsig cottages have their own wood-fired hot tub on the patio.
Camp-Site: Oewerzicht offers 25 grass camp sites, various with reed verandah shade and power-points, on the bank of the river. There are modern ablution and braai facilities. Please bring along your own braai grid. There is safe swimming and tubing in the river, and you are welcome to bring your own canoes and fishing tackle.
Activities:
At Owerzicht, cycling enthusiasts there is also a challenging 25km Mountain Bike Trail, as well as hiking trails.
Mountain biking is a very popular sport in the village – 150 km of biking trails have been laid out. The MTB Classic takes place in June and the MTB Tour the first weekend of September every year.
Greyton’s Saturday morning market is renowned for its fresh, wholesome, scrumptious fare and other close-to-nature products. The town also hosts restaurants, art galleries, historical building and history.
