Facilities

Jack of the Karoo consist of two houses – Jack and Die Prokureurshuis.

Jack is a newly renovated old Victorian house without losing her charm and character. With a big old willow tree in front of the house where you can relax on the stoep and enjoy the fresh Karoo air.

Die Prokureurshuis, dating back to 1937, the house shares a rich history with two of Sutherlands most famous poets, NP van Wyk Louw and his brother WEG Louw. Die Prokureurshuis features typical Karoo architecture. These houses in the Karoo were built of local materials such as sandstone, handmade bricks and plastered with a breathable mud plaster. A prominent covered stoep serves as protection against the harsh sun.
