Description
En route from Cape Town to Upington most of this ROUTE will take you through the Northern Cape province, not only the biggest but also the most sparsely populated in South Africa. The mostly desert like vegetation and scenery takes you through semi-desert and isolated, untouched beauty. The Namaqualand, Karoo and Kalahari regions en route will astound you with solitude and silence. Traveling past and trough towns like Niewoudtville, Calvinia, Kenhardt and Keimoes, where you cross SA’s biggest river the mighty Oranje River, to Upington. This landscape varies from Karoo bush to red sand dunes, quiver trees and lush green vineyards. Like the temperature, very hot in summer and cold in winter, a truly remarkable variation. Do not hurry, take time and drink in this solitude and desolation, it is soul quenching.
